No hitting, Mamie

Katie, Mommy, and Mamie were all in the pediatrician's office today because Katie had a fever of 102.8 and was crying and cranky all day. It turns out she has ear infections in both ears, poor kid. While we were waiting, Katie decided she was finally hungry (she'd had nothing to eat all day), so Mamie was giving her snacks. At one point, Katie swung her arm around and hit Mamie in the face. I told Katie "No Hitting". Without missing a beat, she turned around and said, in all seriousness, "No hitting, Mamie!"

The Bye-Bye song

The girls (and by that I mean the mommies, not the toddlers) get down to the "Bye-Bye" song from our tumbles class:

Playgroup Friends

We have been going to a playgroup every Wednesday since Katie was about 5 months old. This is a picture of most of her friends from this playgroup.

Counting

When Katie wakes up in the morning, she just sits in her crib and talks to herself (yes, she takes after Daddy) - this morning, she started counting. Here's how it goes: "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, TEN..." CLAP CLAP CLAP..."Good job, Katie!" And again, and again.

Who needs outside encouragement when you can just congratulate yourself?

Sorry, Katie

So I've been teaching Katie to say "sorry" to others (including, and mostly, the dog) when she hits them. She's been very good about it and has really taken it to heart. How do I know this? Well, when she accidentally bumps into something, she says "Sorry, Katie." Perhaps I should be concerned that she is referring to herself in the third person, but at this stage, I'm just glad she's saying "sorry."

Katie at the playground

Whoo-hoo, I am now a blogger

Since I am abysmally bad at scrapbooking, I have decided that I should track Katie's progress through life via a blog. This way, I will not thrust photos of her upon unsuspecting and unwilling admirers. The only people that will be subject to this onslaught of stories that I think are funny and photos that I think are cute are the ones who are actively seeking out this blog - which will boil down to about two people, once you allow for those who are not technologically savvy (Sorry, Grandparents - though if you're reading this, I commend you on your ability to navigate the internet!). And even those two people are just here for the pictures.
